Start Your Very Own Frequent Walker Program!
Walking programs encourage students to walk before, during or after school by making it fun and rewarding. Programs vary by school, but most either encourage students to walk to school, or the activities are conducted on the school grounds before school, during recess, or at lunch. Students track their participation by utilizing a punch card or a different method of tracking their participation such as a pedometer. Toolkits containing student incentives are available to schools participating in the East Central Regional SRTS Program. A list of the incentives can be found here. To register your school to receive a Frequent Walker Program Toolkit please fill out the form below. The deadline to sign up for the Frequent Walker Program is Wednesday September 6th, 2017.
Staff at East Central can also assist you with other aspects of implementing your Frequent Walker Program. Identifying the best routes for students to walk to school, mapping of potential remote drop-off locations, or providing a large map of the United States that can be used to track participation are a few of the services that can be provided.
