In Fall of 2021, East Central SRTS staff began working with the Menasha Joint School District to develop a Local SRTS Action Plan for the district. The plan was originally scheduled to be developed in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all walk and bike audits were cancelled. SRTS staff was able to start the action plan process again as schools returned to in-person learning. In September of 2021, SRTS staff conducted walk and bike audits at each K-8th grade school in the district, as well as collected parent survey data. In December, SRTS staff met with the principals of each school to go over their walk and bike audit results, recommendations, and to get any additional feedback to include in the plan. In January 2022, staff held a coalition meeting of stakeholders including staff from school district administration, city planning, public works, parks and recreation, and the police department to go over the plan results and discuss ideas for implementation. After all comments were received, the plan was finalized and has been distributed to the school district and city of Menasha.
