Educational Campaign

About the Campaign

Every day, children across East Central Wisconsin walk and bike to school. Their safety relies on all of us—drivers, parents, caregivers, and community members—paying attention and making safe choices on our roads. This year’s campaign builds on our ongoing efforts to make walking and biking safer and more accessible for students. By working together, we can reduce crashes, ease traffic congestion near schools, and give children the freedom to move safely and confidently in their communities.

Key messages:

Throughout the east central region you will see yard signs, posters, and banners aimed at raising awareness.

Drivers near the school can help create an environment that feels safe and inviting for pedestrians and bicyclists by:

  • Slowing down in school zones and neighborhoods.

  • Watching for pedestrians crossing at intersections and crosswalks.

  • Avoiding distractions, staying focused on the road.

  • Stopping for flashing school bus lights.

Remember to set the example: safe driving keeps our community strong.
